Meet your Hosts:
Gary “Butch” & Kathy King – Proprietors
Since 1996, Butch and his wife, Kathy, have shared the responsibility of operating Wildman Lake Lodge on the Alaska Peninsula, where you will find them each spring, summer and fall.
Gary “Butch” King has been providing fully guided and outfitted trips for discerning sportsmen, on the Alaska Peninsula, since 1971. As a veteran Alaska bush pilot, he has logged over 14,000 accident free hours while flying single and multi-engine aircraft in the Alaska bush. Butch is a commercial instrument pilot as well as an FAA Licensed Mechanic. Born and raised in Alaska, he has fished and hunted in all parts of the State, starting his career as a camp boy at the Wrangell Mountain Lodge in 1966. Butch has come up through the ranks, performing every task from camp boy to lodge owner.
Kathy King was born in Fairbanks and raised in Anchorage, Alaska where she has enjoyed outdoor adventures including hiking, fishing, and hunting. Her interest in the outdoors and caring for people led her to a degree in biology and later, her degree in nursing, at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. Kathy was working as a Registered Nurse when she and Butch bought Wildman Lake Lodge in 1996. Since then, she has managed everything happening inside the lodge and even worked in the kitchen as the head baker and assistant to the chef in the beginning. Now, Kathy orders supplies, keeps the books and handles reservations. She has more time to enjoy conversations with guests and ensure that all their needs are met by our competent staff.
Together, they make a top-notch team, providing clean and comfortable accommodations and outstanding meals in one of Alaska’s most remote locations for world class stream fishing. Butch and Kathy would like to welcome you to Wildman Lake Lodge, their summer home, for a week of fabulous sport fishing, “What we enjoy most, is showing our guests a very special part of Alaska that remains an untouched wilderness where the fish and wildlife are as prolific as they were when we grew up in the Last Frontier.”
