July Fishing in Alaska at:
Wildman Lake Lodge
on the remote Alaska Peninsula . . .

The week of July 19 to July 26, 2009

Wildman Sport Fishing Report-  The King, Sockeye and Chum Salmon runs continue on the Alaska Peninsula.  Finally receiving some rain, we experienced higher water on some of our fly out rivers where we have been enjoying excellent King Salmon fishing this summer.  We switched horses and headed for the Pacific Side of the Alaska Peninsula where the King run was just getting underway.  With poor King Salmon returns in most of Alaska, our runs were good on the Peninsula, but still below normal for this area.  This weeks King fishing was not as strong as previous weeks.  The sockeye runs are now past their peak and the local river is now full of red salmon, with some brights still being found on the lower river.  The minefield, near the lodge, is FULL of reds which are surrounded by FAT Char and many rainbow.  Chum fishing is only fair so far, we are hoping for a push of bright Chum and Pinks next week and we will continue to enjoy the last of the 2009 King Salmon run in our Pacific drainages.
