A pure joy for any upland bird hunting enthusiast, willow ptarmigan hunting over pointing dogs is an adventure that needs to be on your "Bucket List".  Ptarmigan can be found in abundance in our area.  Our guides and bird dog handlers can take you for morning hunt, afternoon hunt or an all day fly-out bird hunting excursion.  Combined upland bird hunting with any sport fishing trip after August 10th.

Willow Ptarmigan: (tar'-mi-gan)
Alaska's most sought after upland game bird is the Willow Ptarmigan.  With the season traditionally opening on August 10th, ptarmigan hunting is normally combined with fall fishing at Wildman Lake Lodge. Ptarmigan can be found in abundant numbers, just walking distance from the lodge during the entire hunting season which runs well into winter. During September and October even more birds come to our area from the surrounding highlands to feed upon the bounty of ripe fall berries which are plentiful in our area.

BIRD HUNTING AND FISHING COMBINATION:
Generous bag limits of 20 per day make ptarmigan hunting a worth while venture. Afternoon bird shooting can be combined with Alaska's finest sport fishing for Arctic Char, Silver Salmon, Rainbow Trout and Steelhead during the fall.  Shells are available at our lodge.
